Morrisons is reported to be close to appointing two new non-executive directors.

The troubled retailer is reported to have two possible names in mind for the new roles, which are being demanded by City shareholders.

National media claimed the two candidates both have experience in the consumer industries sector, but as yet their identities are unknown.

The move follows Sir Ken Morrisons’ promise to shareholders at the retailer’s AGM last month that he would appoint four non-executive directors within the next six weeks.
