Sir Ken Morrison is reportedly considering a timetable that will lead to him stepping down as executive chairman of Wm Morrison, possibly within 12 months.
The 74-year-old has run the supermarket chain for more than 40 years, but life in the hotseat has become increasingly difficult since the City suits became involved, following the takeover of Safeway.
The Sunday Times said that Sir Ken will “finalise his plans within weeks and will make an announcement at the company’s annual shareholders’ meeting later this month”. Sir Ken will also release a public timetable for his departure, to ensure an orderly handover to a new chief executive, the article claimed.
