Forecasters are predicting that unseasonal weather patterns are set to continue into the coming months, with a milder than average winter on the cards.

Temperatures will nowhere near as high as last year, but mild and dry weather is forecast through to February, according to the Met Office.

This follows a summer that was blighted by unsettled weather, heavy rain and flooding in some areas.

Met Office spokeswoman Sancha Lancaster said: “It looks like it’s going to be another mild winter, although we won’t be seeing temperatures as high as last year, which were the second hhighest on record.

“There is a probability that it will be drier than last year, as last year was exceptionally wet.

“All in all, it’s looking to be a fairly pleasant winter.”
