McDonald's have launched its new adult meal-in-box Go Active in the US, which will be available in the UK later this year. The adult version of the Happy Meal includes a salad, bottled water and a pedometer, which counts the number of steps a wearer takes. The pedometer is included in the new-meal-deal as part of the company campaign to change its image of only selling high fat and sugar meals and drinks. The fast-food giant has changed its menus over the last few years to include salads and fresh fruit alongside its well-known burgers, fries and shakes. Vice chairman Jim Skinner said: "As a customer-driven organisation, we are committed to playing a responsible and active role to be part of the solution,"

But health experts said the average person would need to walk more than five and a half hours to burn off a Big Mac, large fries, large cola and a McFlurry ice cream. "It will be interesting to see whether or not the company states on the packet how many steps you need to take to burn off the calories in what you've just eaten," said Kath Dalmeny from the Food Commission.
