One of Marks & Spencer’s senior food figures has left the business.

Jim Waller, formerly commercial director for food eaten out of home and grocery, has decided to leave the upmarket retailer after 10 years with the business.

The move follows a re-shuffle at the top of M&S’ food business which has seen Andy Adcock take on the role of commercial director for food.

Adcock was formerly commercial director for fresh food while Waller has been a director for four and a half years, and in his latest role for two. He was also a category manager for Safeway from 1992 to 2001.

An M&S spokeswoman told FPJ: “Jim has left M&S to pursue other opportunities outside the business.

“He leaves with our best wishes for the future and thanks for his significant contribution.”

Former John Lewis strategist Robert Weston has joined the retailer's board in the new role of brand director for foods.

The moves follow a swathe of top changes by CEO Marc Bolland. Christopher Taylor joined as director of Simply Food, franchise and hospitality last month. Jan Heere joined in February as head of international and former Tesco boss Laura Wade-Gery joined to oversee the company's online push.
