A management buyout has been completed at Tansley based firm, John Palin (Wholesale), one of the UK’s leading independent wholesalers of fruit and vegetables.

Palins has been established for 150 years and the sellers, Roger and Sam Palin, were the seventh generation of the Palin family to have been involved in the business.

The company sources a range of fruit and vegetables for onward supply to independent grocers, pubs and restaurants, factories, residential homes, prisons, schools and catering establishments across England.

Palins has been acquired by David Newton and Neil Norman, who have been with the business for over 15 years. They have extensive knowledge of produce and markets and have been instrumental in building up the customer base.

Backed up by the dedicated workforce of 60 people, Newton and Norman are aiming to continue with the expansion of the business for many years to come.

Commenting on the mbo, they said: “We would like to wish Roger and Sam Palin every success in the future and record our thanks to them, Smith Cooper and all the advisers involved for their support and hard work in completing the deal.”
