Dutch group Rijk Zwaan has revealed good results from its Love My Salad social networking site since its launch at Fruit Logistica in February.
The aim of the site is to encourage consumers to eat more vegetables.
More than 10,000 consumers, growers and restaurant owners have apparently become 'fans' of the network on Facebook and, according to the group, this number is still rising.
The challenge, the company said, was to promote the less well-known benefits of vegetables, including their health benefits, long shelf life and ease of preparation.
"To get those messages across, we need to get people talking," the company stated, "and luckily, that's exactly what's happening on Lovemysalad.com."
Regional Love My Salad teams have now been created internationally in order to organise events and activities in their local markets.
