Lord Henley: Home Office bound

Lord Taylor

Lord Taylor

Lord Taylor of Holbeach has been appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

Lord Taylor entered the Lords in 2006, having been made a life peer as Baron Taylor of Holbeach, of South Holland in the County of Lincolnshire.

He replaces Lord Henley, who has been appointed minister of state at the Home Office, replacing Baroness Browning who has stood down.

Lord Taylor has been government spokesperson for the Cabinet Office, energy and climate change, and work and pensions since 2010. He has also served as a whip in the House of Lords.

He was created a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1992 for political service, and served as chairman of the National Conservative Convention from 2000 to 2003.

The NFU has worked closely with Lord Taylor in the years running up to the last general election as he held the opposition DEFRA portfolio in the Lords, meeting on a very regular basis and assisting in the development of key manifesto pledges.
