Dennis Mwakulua has been named London Chef of the Year 2007 Award, organised by Westminster Kingsway College Culinary Salon.
Mwakulua, who works at prominent business caterer Eurest, was awarded the title after impressing the judges with his innovative menu reflecting current London trends.
Kenyan-born Mwakulua moved to London to work as a chef. A former student of Westminster Kingsway College, he is also a member of the Association Culinaire Francaise, the Master Chefs of Great Britain and the Craft guild of Chefs.
The event was sponsored by Spitalfields Market Tenants Association. Its chairman, Chris Hutchinson, said: “The Market's sponsorship is an on-going association with Westminster Kingsway College, whose former students include many renowned names in the catering industry such as Jamie Oliver and Antony Worrall Thomson.”
