Sales of fresh produce at Londis have risen by 33 per cent year on year with the company pledging to double fresh food sales by 2015.
The convenience retailer invested £4 million last year in expanding its fresh food range, promotions and support for its stores.
The number of fresh produce lines available to Londis retailers is on the increase, the store said with it set to offer seasonal favourites such as Jersey Royals and pumpkins.
It will also be able to offer fresh strawberries from farm to store in 24 hours.
Paul Courtney, Londis sales director, said: “We now have an extensive fresh range with over 1,300 lines.
“We’re driving the range of best sellers into all Londis stores, providing innovative wholesale deals and supporting retailers as they embrace fresh that’s relevant to their store.”
With growing demand from its retail partners, Londis has added price-marked packs and smaller case sizes to the range, which it says offers retailers simplicity and value for money.
