Warwickshire grower and packer, Lighthorne Herbs is celebrating securing 75 per cent of Sainsbury’s cut herb business.

The company now fulfils the role of category manager for the range and will be working with Chris Wells, Sainsbury’s buyer to drive sales in what is already a successful category for the store.

“We are delighted to have this opportunity to work as category leaders in fresh herbs,” said Nicola Smith, who manages the Sainsbury’s account at Lighthorne. “As herb specialists, we feel well positioned to understand the product and bring innovative ideas to the table. It is a great opportunity for a smaller producer growing UK produce to be involved in Sainsbury’s business.”

Lighthorne’s own farms are based in Warwickshire and Cornwall and in addition the company sources from local growers. The National Herb Centre, based in Warmington, Warwickshire is also run by Lighthorne Herbs.
