Lee Abbey has been named as the new NFU chief horticulture adviser.
Abbey takes up his new role on 15 October, replacing Hayley Campbell-Gibbons, who leaves the farmers' union to take up the position of chair at AHDB Horticulture.
Abbey has worked at the NFU for nearly 13 years, starting outin the sugar sector supporting the team of NFU negotiators for the UK beet contract.
For the last seven years he has been horticulture and potatoes adviser, leading on a number of supply chain initiatives, farm assurance and managing the NFU’s Potato Forum.
Abbey told FPJ: 'I look forward to continuing the great work of the NFU and working with the Horticulture & Potatoes board to support our members through these challenging times.
