Lauritzen Cool Logistics is extending its network with the opening of an LCL office in Valencia, Spain.
“This will save a lot on costs for the UK market,” said Juergen Benz, who heads the new Valencia operation. “We can combine container loads, especially from the Mediterranean and countries such as Morocco, Turkey and Egypt with local Spanish products to truck up to the UK.”
As md of the new operation, Benz will have total responsibility for all logistics services including reefer trucks as well as shipping-based solutions.
“One of the decisive factors in joining the LCL organisation is that it has a clear focus on perishables logistics,” said Benz who has 25 years in the logistics industry for perishables. “Our combined know-how will be a real strength to customers all over Europe. We see synergies for connecting our trucks in northern Europe onto seaborne perishable cargo being landed on the continent for final delivery in the Mediterranean area as well as other destinations in the UK or northern Europe.”
LCL opened new offices in Costa Rica, Ecuador, Uruguay, the Netherlands and the UK last year and with this opening, its network covers 13 countries across four continents with a strong emphasis on key production and import markets.
