Lantra, the Sector Skills Council for the environmental and land-based sector, is asking business and employees to have their say about the future of qualifications and training in the industry.

The council is developing a new strategy called the Sector Qualifications Strategy, which will set out how achievement, learning and training in the industry should be recognised. It is asking people to complete a questionnaire to gauge their views on the current, nationally recognised qualifications, as well as having their say in the development of the strategy. The strategy will build on the Sector Skills Agreement, which was made earlier this year, and aims to equip people in the sector with skills to progress through the industry.

Nanette Pierce, the project’s co-ordinator, said: “We need businesses to give us their views on industry qualifications and training. For example, are they relevant? Do they need updating? Can you get the qualifications and training you want in a way that suits your business needs?” l
