Keelings has closed B-Prepared, the company it bought out of the Bomfords administration in July 2007.

Keelings announced this morning that it will start consultation with staff representatives regarding the proposal to cease operations at its B-Prepared subsidiary in the UK.

Based in Brandon, Suffolk, the company, which specialises in the creation of prepared fruit, vegetables and herb lines, was bought out of administration by the Keelings Group last July and continued to supply the major multiples and foodservice network in the UK with its range of products.

Operations at the B-Prepared Brandon facility have now ceased. Alternative redeployment opportunities within Keelings Group are being explored.

A spokesperson for the Keelings Group said it regretted that due to ongoing losses it had no other alternative but to cease trading, however it intends to continue reviewing the market potential for this service.

“The concept of providing prepared fresh fruit and vegetables to the retail and foodservice trade still has more development potential in the UK. The Group is committed to looking at how it can maximise the state-of-the-art facilities available at Brandon to create a service that cost effectively matches market expectations,” said the spokesperson.
