Fun-sized fruit are expected to be a big hit with children
Worldwide Fruit is launching British-grown Jazz Juniors apples as it toasts the main Jazz brand becoming the UK’s fifth-biggest variety.
The bite-sized apples are launching in selected retailers at the end of March. They have been marketed following the success of the Jazz apple van’s festival roadshow last year, where it was identified that the fun-sized apples were a big hit with children.
Naturally small Jazz Juniors come in branded packs of six and are “perfectly sized for kids and all those snacking moments in between,” according to supplier Worldwide Fruit.
The producer said the move also means that more fruit makes its way to the consumer, minimising food waste and in turn helping growers utilise a larger range of sizes.
The British Jazz apple season began in November last year, with ambassador and Olympian Jazmin Sawyers helping celebrate their arrival. The brand then took centre stage at the National Fruit Show as grower Chandler & Dunn collected seven prizes for its award-winning Jazz apples, including Best in Show.
Hannah McIlfatrick, commercial director of Worldwide Fruit, said: “It’s fantastic news to announce the launch of our Jazz Juniors in selected retailers with the British season currently in full swing. The launch helps build off the success the brand has already achieved and sets us up perfectly for the remaining months of the British season.
“These superb Jazz Juniors provide that unmistakeable Jazz tangy-sweet taste that we all know and love, but they come in smaller sizes perfect for children and snacking opportunities.”
