Tal Amit

Tal Amit, 50, was appointed last week as general manager of the Citrus Division at the newly formed Horticultural Production and Marketing Board, in Israel. He replaces Mena Davidson, who for the past 12 years served as general manager of the Citrus Marketing Board of Israel.

Amit, an agronomist by profession, served in the Citrus Marketing Board in several managerial positions, such as manager of the Board's Citrus Experimental Station, manager of the Citrus Varieties Breeding Programme and in recent years as head of the Board's R&D division.

Amit's appointment coincides with the formation of the Horticultural Production and Marketing Board, which amalgamates the previously statutory vegetable, flower, fruit and citrus production and marketing boards. Each of these sectors now becomes a division in the new Horticultural Board. Amit said that the Citrus Division will focus its activities on breeding projects, the introduction of new varieties and strengthening the Jaffa brand on foreign markets.
