The University of Bedfordshire has launched an online questionnaire to assess how well-used internet technologies currently are within the fresh produce supply chain.

The study forms part of a key European Commission-funded project called VEGNET, which aims to boost usage of such technologies. The investigation aims to benchmark supply chain management status for fresh produce firms in the UK, as well as evaluate the factors influencing internet usage in the industry.

The survey, devised by the university’s Centre for Research in ICT Business Applications, can be accessed at http://vegnet.beds.ac.uk/survey.

“This survey will help both agribusiness managers and researchers assess the current level of internet technology adoption in the industry,” said the university. “Even if your company uses very few internet-based technology systems, your views and options would still be very valuable in helping us generate guidelines on how to boost adoption of such systems.”

Participants in the ten- to 15-minute survey will receive a summary report of the findings upon conclusion.
