Jeff Hooper is to step down from his role as executive chairman at Spalding-based flowers firm Butters Group.
The firm recently acquired Verde Horticulture, the flower centre business of Landgard UK, to create a new £70 million plant, bulb and flower business.
Hooper, who has been in the role for over six years, praised the acquisition and believes he is leaving the business in good health. He explained: “The company is very different from the organisation I joined in 2007. Then, it was a loss-making business concentrating solely on plants. It has now diversified into cut flowers and bulbs, as well as establishing its own nursery, all of which has given it a much wider customer appeal.”
“This has resulted in the company producing an operating profit in each of the last four years. The recent acquisition of Verde has created the largest plant business in the UK, serving a wide portfolio of supermarkets and DIY outlets. This provides an excellent platform for future growth.”
