G’s Fresh Beetroot has become the first company to receive Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) approval for tax relief on an efficient membrane filtration system.
The Cambridge food manufacturer gained approval for the tax relief, worth more than £100,000, through the Water Technology List - a list detailing products that can qualify for ECAs.
The Aquabio system will allow the G’s to treat and re-use up to 70 per cent of the wastewater it generates on site, reducing both its water supply and annual disposal costs of around £125,000.
The company was able to claim an ECA after receiving a ‘Certifcate of Environmental Benefit’ from Defra.
Managing director Graham Forber said: “ECA eligibility has really made the difference. It has provided us with a major incentive to invest. Not only will we be able to significantly reduce our water and effluent costs, but the ECA has also shortened the payback period of the project by 12 months, giving the Board confidence to invest.”
