Northern Irish grower and food producer Mash Direct is sending out personalied potatoes as part of a marketing campaign around Valentine’s Day.
The company has asked shoppers to submit messages to send to their Valentine, and will pick ten to handwrite onto potatoes and send within a gift box, along with a Mash Direct hamper and bottle of bubbly.
The idea is to encourage couples to use potatoes as part of a Valentine’s Meal, with the competition promoted across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Head of marketing Clare Forster said: “Our vegetables have won a lot of awards recently and so we wanted to share the love that we have for our products with the rest of the world.
“At Mash Direct we specialise in making convenient and delicious vegetable side dishes. They are ready in just a few minutes which means that our customers can spend more time with their loved one this Valentine’s Day.”
The gift box also contains a poem entitled #SpudLove, described as a “humorous homage” to romantic literature, and highlights the convenience and nutritional benefits of using potatoes as part of a Valentine’s meal.
