The Greenery has launched soft-fruit packaging specifically designed to prolong product shelf life.
The new pack, made from a transparent tray combined with a micro-perforated top film, will offer added protection to soft fruits including blackcurrants, redcurrants and raspberries by creating an optimal atmosphere, according to The Greenery.
The company has carried out tests that show that the shelf life of strawberries, stored in the packs at a temperature of 12°C, can be increased by up to three days.
Martin Brown, managing director of greenery UK, said: “Finding natural ways in which to preserve the quality of soft fruit is vital in ensuring the product looks good and retails get maximum benefit from it on the shelves.
“Soft fruit such as strawberries are very popular with consumers and we are confident that stockists will be delighted with the effect this new packaging will have.”
