Capespan is launching a new premium export fruit brand in the UK market this month.
The first Thompson Seedless grapes bearing the Capespan Gold label are set to reach UK shores this weekend.
The product has been sourced from Capespan’s Namibian grape company, Rapiprop.
The brand is being marketed through Capespan’s wholesale market trading partners and has been developed to meet demand for extra-special fruit from top-end independent retailers, caterers and foodservice operators. Fruit is supplied in 30x40cm 4.5kg cartons.
Laraine Brown, Capespan UK’s advertising and promotions manager, said: “All these customers share a common need for an uncommon quality, which is not always easy to locate.
“Capespan Gold will increase the availability of premium-quality fruit, making it easier to locate, and establish confidence through the endorsement of an established expert brand.”
The brand will initially be used for red and white grapes, using the qualifying selection criteria of bigger berry size, full colour and higher brix levels, all controlled at source.
Although the brand is launching with southern African fruit, other sources from Capespan’s global supply base will provide year-round availability.
“Once Capespan Gold grapes are established in the market, the brand will be extended for use on other fruit kinds,” said Brown.
