The Gangmasters Licensing Authority (GLA) has launched a second consultation this week on a protocol between itself, supermarkets and their suppliers to help combat labour exploitation in the UK.

The protocol has been developed through discussions with Asda, Iceland, Marks & Spencer, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, The Co-operative Group, Waitrose and supplier representatives.

It seeks to establish common principles on how the GLA, supermarkets and their suppliers will work together on labour issues.

The consultation is available from www.gla.gov.uk and runs until January 22, 2010.
