Yorkshire Fresh Salads, part of Geest’s Fresh Produce Division, has taken on Neil McKay as its new NPD manager.
McKay has moved within the company from Geest at Barton, where he worked for almost four years as product development manager.
Prior to that, he worked with fish giants Youngs Bluecrest on innovation and “blue-sky” development, a strength that YFS intend to utilise to further develop the leafy salads category with Asda.
A chef by background, McKay has worked at Turnberry Hotel in Scotland, and the Dorchester Hotel in London - and has travelled to Europe and Japan to cook and present classical and traditional Scottish food.
Meanwhile, Geest’s Fresh Produce Division has also appointed Kate O’Shea as general manager of English Village Salads, along with Graeme Townson as the companies financial controller.
O’Shea joined Geest in 1995 as general manager of the Produce Division (Horticulture) and brings a wealth of retail experience and has worked closely with growers in the UK as well as the Netherlands, Spain, Kenya and South America.
Townson joined EVS from Geest's Alresford Salads and brings an excellent understanding of the produce business from a financial perspective.
