The firm also donated to the charity event's evening auction by offering a meal for four in the winner's home, to be cooked by a Fyffes chef.

Fyffes UK brand manager Paul Barrett said: 'We were delighted to help the Youth Sport Trust in their fundraising event. We are totally committed to sport and health education in schools, and alongside producing our own education packs felt that the Trust deserved some energy-boosting bananas for their special day.' The golfing event, held at Mentmore Golf and Country Club in Bedfordshire, saw Fyffes present a £3,000 cheque for the most points scored on the Yellow Ball Challenge.

The Fyffes team, pictured left to right, was Tim Chambers, one of the UK's favourite all-time quickies and amateur laughing champion Kris Akabussi, Andy Bendy, Olympic javelin silver-medallist Steve Backley and Andrew Joyce.
