Andy Haines, head of logistics at Tate & Lyle Sugars Europe, has been named as the new president of the Freight Transport Association (FTA).

Haines, who has been a vice-president of the FTA for the last 12 months, succeeds John Russell of John G Russell (Transport) Ltd of Glasgow.

Haines’s association with the FTA began in the early 1990s in the north-west of the UK. He has subsequently played an active role on the Greater London Freight Council and has been a member of the FTA national executive board since 2004.
