Fruit Logistica revamped

Next year's event promises to be bigger than ever as for the first time in its history it will not run concurrently with Green Week Berlin and will occupy 20 per cent more exhibition hall space from February 5-7, 2004.

The presence of Latin American exhibitors will be stronger as Brazil takes on the role of featured exhibitor at the three-day event. Argentina is also substantially increasing its stand area this year along with Spain, Poland, Turkey and Egypt. There will also be displays from EU candidate countries and alongside first-time exhibitor Slovakia, Russia, the Republic of Korea, Kenya, Jordan and the British Virgin Islands will also be making their debut appearance at the show. Messe Berlin reports a concerted marketing effort in Mexico to interest all 32provinces of the North American nation in attending the show. Fruit Logistica will also welcome all 12 members of the association of German wholesale markets for the first time.

The exhibition will be preceded by the German trade's Fresh Produce Forum on February 4 which will focus on the theme Quality at a low cost ñ a challenge or Utopia?

And a revamped conference and seminar programme alongside the show will see the staging of a Mediterranean meeting with speakers from leading suppliers in the region on February 5. And delegates can attend a food safety forum on February 6 and a focus on the French supply and retail sectors on February 7.
