Streamfoods Holdings, the producers of kids snack brand Fruit Bowl, has been acquired by cereal manufacturer Bokomo Foods.

Bokomo Foods, which is part of South African group Pioneer Foods, said the acquisition fits within its strategy of building its portfolio following a recent move to larger premises, as well as providing an opportunity to enter the UK branded market.

Streamfoods exports to Europe, China and South Africa, and is regarded as having the capacity and expertise to expand into the fast-growing adult fruit snacking range.

“I very much see this acquisition as a vital part of improving and enhancing our growth and performance here in the UK,” said Bokomo chief executive John Hiles. “It complements our current portfolio and enables usto deliver a branded, on-shelf presence in major retailers such as Aldi, Tesco and Sainsbury's.
