Long-term consumption of fruit and vegetables can improve memory and reasoning skills, according to a study in the American Journal of Epidemiology.

The study found that the flavonoids found in fruit and vegetables may be one of the best defenses against cognitive decline. The findings were concluded from a 10-year study that looked at the response of a group of people who sat verbal fluency, logical reasoning and visual memory tests. It was found that the people who ate the most fruit and vegetables performed better on the tests.
