Albert Bartlett and specialist seed-potato breeder and supplier Agrico UK have struck a deal to introduce Gourmandine potatoes to the UK market.

Gourmandine is a salad and table potato that has enjoyed considerable success in continental Europe over the past decade. In France it was recently awarded the tastiest potato for the third time in the much coveted flavour of the year awards Saveur de l’Année 2013.

Agrico said it was “delighted” with the Albert Bartlett deal given the company’s track record with marketing potatoes by variety – most notably Rooster – into UK supermarkets.

Agrico director general Jan van Hoogen said: “We are very proud of this contract and have great faith in our cooperation in Britain.”
