The former boss of collapsed retailer Allders looks set to take on a senior role at Tesco.

Terry Green, who presided over the failure of department chain Allders, is reported to have been in talks with Tesco for several weeks.

Green, 53, is being tipped to take a job within the retailer’s clothing business. The move would bring him back into contact with former boss John Hoerner, who is thought to be stepping back from the day-to-day running of the retailer’s clothing operations.

The precise role Green will be performing is as yet undetermined, newspaper report suggest.

In 2003, Green bought control of Allders for £162 million as part of a consortium. However, Allders collapsed in January this year, leaving a £60m pension deficit.
