María José Sevilla, Foods from Spain director, told FPJ: “We will be encouraging children to find out about the huge range of fresh fruit and vegetables available from Spain, using a variety of resources, including the Foods from Spain website, and also drawing on their existing knowledge of the country and its produce.
“The issue of children’s diets has become increasingly important in the UK through the last decade, and this competition allows us to get directly involved with the drive to help healthy-eating habits develop early in life.
“There are plenty of diet-related projects targeting kids around at the moment, but as Spain is the main foreign source of fresh produce into the UK market, we feel it’s completely right that that we help children understand the large part Spain has to play in good eating.”
