Leading bagged salad brand Florette is expanding into the foodservice sector.
The company is working with distributors 3663 in a deal which will get underway in April. Florette is the largest and fastest growing brand within the bagged salad category, with a portfolio, which includes supermarket favourites such as Crispy and Mixed salad.
Sandy Sewell, Florette’s commercial director, said: “We see the foodservice sector as an exciting opportunity for us to fill a gap in the market. We know that currently a lot of the foodservice trade are buying wholehead lettuces and preparing salads themselves.
“Our bagged salads will offer caterers convenience, cutting down on preparation time as well as bringing quality and innovation to the salad offerings. Florette’s bagged salad is also renowned for extended shelf life, which should help foodservice outlets cut down on wastage.”
Florette said its increased presence in the foodservice sector will cater to the increasing consumer trend for interesting salad as a main meal rather than an accompaniment and will help caterers meet demand for healthy meals with the minimum of effort.
