Flemish agricultural producers have unveiled a number of innovations, including red chicory under the Flandria brand, blue potatoes, cherry plum tomatoes (Bellino) and sweet mini peppers (Zuccherina).
Belgium is the world’s leading exporter of Conference pears and leeks. Every year, more than 50 varieties of vegetables - accounting for 440,000 tonnes of production - are awarded the Flandria test mark.
Paul Coenen, manager of the German branch of Flanders Agricultural Marketing Office (VLAM) said: “That makes Flandria the most important fresh vegetable brand in Europe.”
