The first seafreighted South African stonefruit of the season arrived in the UK on Tuesday aboard the Mol-Springbok.
Although the vessel was slightly delayed due to engine problems, the first Cape branded nectarines and peaches were warmly welcomed at Capespan HQ by John Hopkins, pictured.
“The nectarines particularly have excellent colour, a good range of sizes and they are eating really well,” said Hopkins.
Early nectarine variety Mayglow from the Riebeeck Casteel area kicked off the seafreight season and met keen demand.
