The first air-freighted Carmel grape of the Israeli season reached the UK this week.
The arrivals were welcomed onto a market that was looking for some good new crop grape - and therefore achieved a premium price.
The consignment consisted of Early Sweet (SBS), which has built up a strong following in the UK over the past two years and is growing in popularity with the major multiples.
John Fox, pictured, Agrexco’s marketing manager, told the Journal: “Perlette and Superior will follow shortly and all varieties are in abundance as, this year, volume forecasts are in excess of 5,000 tonnes,” he said.
