Dutch ornamental supplier Florema Young Plants has gained the FFP label for its sustainably cultivated produce.

The ‘FFP’ label, which stands for Fair Flowers Fair Plant, is awarded to companies that stimulate the production and sales of flowers and plants in a sustainable manner. This means that the products’ cultivation places as low a burden as possible on the environment, and good working conditions are guaranteed.

Florema’s director Cor Bremmer said: “As a producer of young plants, Florema wants to contribute to a better life environment and with this FFP label we would like to gain a profile as a company who takes social indicators seriously. With the combination of requirements in the field of environment and social aspects we are therefore ensured that our management is fair.”

Florema gained the MPS-Socially Qualified certificate, which is based on the trade unions’ international code of conduct, earlier this year, and is also qualified for MPS-GAP, which is based on EUREP requirements for the use of pest management resources, land use, qualifications of employees and the maintenance of equipment. l
