Exotic Farm Produce operations cease

Bakkavör subsidiary Exotic Farm Produce (EFP) has been forced to close its doors citing inflationary pressure.

The company’s site in Kirton, Lincolnshire ceased operation earlier this month following a 90-day consultation on jobs.

Up to 66 jobs are on the line of the original 115 employees facing redundancy at the peas, beans and exotic veg supplier.

Bakkavör said it had already found roles for several employees at its other sites, including Bourne, Spalding and Sutton Bridge, and was continuing to process internal job applications as it attempts to reduce the final redundancy total.

A small accountancy team is to be retained at the EFP site.

A spokesperson for Bakkavör said: “Despite enormous efforts to try to secure new business, the significant impact of reduced sales volumes and ongoing input inflation, forced Exotic Farm Produce into an unsustainable position…

“We appreciate that this has been an extremely difficult period for everyone at Exotic Farm Produce, and would like to commend staff for their patience and understanding during this process, which in no way reflects on their commitment to the business.”
