Pest management firm Exosect has announced it has appointed a dedicated sales development manager for South Africa.

The move came as a response to a 100 percent increase in demand for Exosex CM product from South African distributor Terason - the latest announcement of both domestic international growth from the company in 2007.

It follows a 300 percent increase in production at its facility in Hampshire as a result of overall increases in demand, as well as product launches in New Zealand, South Africa and the US.

Mark Batt was appointed to the new position after he left English fruit marketing company Norman Collett, where he was responsible for the quality assurance on 16 to 20,000 tonnes of apples and pears for many supermarkets.

He said: “As quality assurance officer at Norman Collett I witnessed the Exosect technology in action and was impressed by the results. I look forward to sharing my experience of this environmentally conscious, quick-to-deploy and easy-to-maintain alternative to more traditional methods of pest control with growers in South Africa.”

Martin Brown, the company’s managing director, added: “Mark Blatt’s experience and knowledge in the fruit marketing and quality assurance fields means he will be a real asset to Exosect, our distributors and their customers. We are delighted to welcome him to our international team.”
