Asparagus and soft fruit specialist Global Plant Genetics has appointed Paul Ward to its technical division.
The company has been enjoying growth in its intellectual property and technical sectors, and it is hoped that these departments will benefit from Ward’s depth of experience.
Ward boasts over 30 years' experience in all technical aspects of various crops. These include British veg, glasshouse salads, Egyptian, Spanish and British potatoes, tropical produce, stonefruit and cherries for Malet Azoulay/Univeg UK worldwide. He subsequently moved into berry crops, working as group technical director with a UK berry marketing company.
Other crops are being added to the Global Plant Genetics portfolio, and this in particular is where it is hoped Ward’s skills and background will add significant value to the company’s offer.
Commenting on the appointment, Global Plant Genetics co-founder Rupert Hargreaves said: 'The addition of Paul Ward to our team will add the important link between our breeders and growers worldwide. This is key to the successful development of new varieties.”
