Everett Brothers goes one step further

A newly designed machine from British manufacturer, Everett Brothers, is said to offer significant advantages to processors needing to remove the crown and tails from carrots and then cut them into accurate length segments for the fresh and processed food markets.

The new cutter tackles the issues of speed and accuracy by using completely different principles to any machinery previously available. The patented ‘tilting’ table ensures the ability to handle almost any size of carrot, while retaining accuracy and throughput and virtually eliminating missed roots. The time taken to set up the machine to handle different sized carrots is just a few minutes.

The output is far in excess of that achieved by existing machinery; being a number of times greater rather than merely a percentage better. Tests have shown a reliable throughput of around two to three and a half tonnes per hour; the figure varying with the length and diameter of the input carrots.

Consistently delivering accurate 90°C cuts, the machine will top and tail only, or top, tail and segment cut into 50mm, 76mm, 100mm or 152mm lengths. Other lengths are possible by special order.

Managing director Brian Everett said: “We went right back to first principles to design this machine. It is a huge improvement over existing technology, with increased pack out and higher recovery. We worked very hard to keep the footprint as compact as possible.

“We have also designed it to require minimum maintenance and to be simple to service. As we provide after sales support for our products this is seen as very important,” he continued. “As ever we see this machine as an integrated component of the complete packing lines we supply to meet producers precise requirements”
