Sustainable business expert, Envirowise, will once again host the Food Environmental Efficiency Day (FEED) at the East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham, on February 5, 2008. The event will provide firms in the food, drink and hospitality sectors with free advice to improve resource use in priority areas such as packaging, water and energy efficiency, in a bid to improve their environmental performance and secure valuable cost savings as a result.

There will be a range of activities taking place on the day including presentations by industry stakeholders, interactive workshops and ‘drop-in’ clinics, allowing businesses to access confidential, one-to-one guidance with an Envirowise advisor, and guest speakers including the Food and Drink Federation.

FEED was previously held in 2006 and saw hundreds of businesses taking advantage of the free help on offer. Businesses can book a place for the 2008 event by logging on to www.envirowise.gov.uk/feed. Since 1994 Envirowise, a government-funded programme, has helped UK businesses save more than one billion pounds by enabling them to significantly reduce their environmental footprints.

Clare Campbell, Envirowise food and drink sector specialist, said: “With environmental issues continuing to attract high levels of public interest, businesses can achieve real commercial benefits by addressing their use of resources. FEED will provide delegates with practical advice from a range of industry experts all under one roof.”
