Organisers of the Wessex Salon Culinaire have received a huge number of entries for this year’s event at the Bournemouth Hotel & Catering Exhibition.

Now the UK’s second biggest Salon Culinaire forum, the competition gives chefs a chance to compete in a variety of events such as the Live Cold Class where competitors have just 30 minutes to prepare two cold avocado dishes.

This year will also see new categories: Cocktails and Coffee, Pasta, Sushi and Contract Catering Chef of the Year.

Competition organiser, Steve Scuffle of the Craft Guild of Chefs said: “It’s fantastic that we have received such a positive response to the competition with a wide range of entries with talented up and coming chefs from Torquay to Shropshire. The event will provide them with the opportunity to show off their culinary skills, and additionally the chance to reveal some inspiring and vibrant dishes.”

The Bournemouth Hotel and Catering Exhibition this year celebrates 50 years of hospitality in the south and aims to attract thousands of hoteliers, restaurateurs and chefs. It takes place in the newly renovated Bournemouth International Centre from March 7-8.

Other competitions taking place include the Wessex Shield Challenge, the Rungis Chef of the Year and the Major International Culinary Challenge.
