Elsoms Seeds is holding a brassica open day on October 11, next Thursday, at its premises just north of Spalding.
The firm’s vegetable trial plot will be on display from 11am to 4pm, or by prior appointment, at its site alongside the A16.
Brassica, bulb onion and baby leaf manager John Constable told FPJ: “We are really pleased how well the plots look considering the high rainfall this year. We are lucky that with small trial plots we are not forced to plant with machines in very difficult conditions, unlike commercial growers. All of the range of crops is at an interesting stage - I am particularly impressed with the mini plots, with Kohl Rabi and fennel looking particularly attractive.”
Elsoms handles 100 organically grown varieties and the organic field trial is also open to visitors.
