EiC takes to the road

The Eat in Colour (EiC) campaign is taking to the coast with a roadshow in holiday hotspots nationwide that started on Sunday. A revamped ice-cream van and armfuls of fruit and vegetables will tour 1,500 miles over six days, spreading the EiC message that fruit and vegetables are the quick, easy, tasty and inexpensive route to a healthy diet.

Working with Haven Holidays, the EiC van will visit six regions starting at Hafan y Mor Holiday Park in Pwllheli, Gwynedd, before visiting Scotland, Yorkshire, Sussex, Norfolk and Devon.

The principle behind the roadshow is “eating is believing”. “By creating a variety of delicious, healthy snacks straight from the van. EiC will demonstrate to families how easy eating more fruit and vegetables can be,” said a spokesman for Bray Leino PR, which is running the campaign on behalf of EiC and the Fresh Produce Consortium.

The roadshow will be promoted to holiday park residents in local media and via invitations, newsletters and the kids club. Families will be able to sample a range of fruit- and veg-based dishes with a holiday twist, and benefit from cookery demonstrations and games and activities for children.

“Healthy eating needn’t be an ordeal,” said EiC chairman Anthony Levy. “Eat in Colour is all about making sure that fun and flavour is on the menu. It’s about bringing colour to family mealtimes with easy ways to include fruit and vegetables alongside our favourite dishes. That’s the message we’re taking to the road.”

Haven Holidays is keen on the partnership. “We are delighted to be working with the Eat in Colour roadshow this summer,” said spokeswoman Deborah McCabe. “Together we can offer our guests practical, simple and fun ways to be healthier and happier.”
