EIC hits the road

With a revamped ice cream van, armfuls fruit and vegetables, and a twinkle in their eyes, the Eat in Colour campaign has hit the road again this week, for a six day, 1,500 mile tour of the UK, spreading the word that fruit and vegetables are the quick, easy, tasty and inexpensive route to a healthy diet.

Working in conjunction with Haven Holidays, the roadshow visits six regions around the country with its specially- designed Eat in Colour van. The roadshow started on 29 July at Hafan y Mor Holiday Park in Pwllheli, Gwynedd and will travel 1,500 miles stopping at Scotland, Yorkshire, Sussex, Norfolk and Devon.

The principle behind the roadshow is ‘eating is believing’ - by creating a variety of delicious healthy snacks straight from the van Eat in Colour will demonstrate to families how easy eating more fruit and vegetables can be.

The roadshow will be promoted to holiday park residents in local media and via invitations, newsletters and the kids club. Families will be able to sample a range of fruit and veg based dishes with a holiday twist, cookery demonstrations and games and activities for children.

Eat in Colour chairman Anthony Levy saed: “For most of us the prospect of slaving over a hot stove after a busy day, especially when we’re on holiday, is simply too much - it just seems easier and cheaper to take the readymeal or takeaway route. But healthy eating needn’t be an ordeal. Eat in Colour is all about making sure that fun and flavour is on the menu. It’s about bringing colour to family mealtimes with easy ways to include fruit and vegetables alongside our favourite dishes. That’s the message we’re taking to the road.”
