Specialists in third party inspection and certification, Efsis, will be exhibiting at this year's Private Label Manufacturer's Association (PLMA), to be held in Amsterdam on May 27-28.

Efsis business development manager Paul Ruocco said: 'UK retailers have led the way with the adoption of third party inspections as a prerequisite for the supply of private label products.

'Routine retailer inspections have now been replaced by independent visits, saving time and money in resources and management costs. Our objective is to ensure European retailers and specifiers have the same opportunities, which is why the PLMA is such an important event for us.

The Efsis standard has been approved by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and is one of the standards now approved by the GFSI and is aimed at food manufacturers world-wide.

Efsis is currently involved in providing its inspection and certification services to the whole supply chain and believes it is only a matter of time before third party inspections will be adopted across the globe. Ruocco concluded: 'We have been at the forefront in driving food safety forwardSour aim is to give retailers and ultimately consumers the knowledge that food from any origin is safe and produced to the highest standards.'
