Earliest ever British strawberries hit Sainsbury's

The earliest British strawberries ever to hit Sainsbury's stores arrived on Sunday, seven weeks early.

Peter Czarnobaj, Sainsbury's produce technologist said: "This crop is tasting just as good as anything available across Europe and Africa, but are extra fresh and juicy because we can put them on our shelves more quickly - as well as being good for UK business, sourcing in the UK is great news for our customers too."

The early Lambarda, grown in Norfolk by Peter Wensak, will be available under the Taste The Difference brand and will initially be available in 70 Sainsbury’s stores across the UK, priced at £2.99 for a 200g punnet.
