According to today’s Belfast Telegraph, Mandate, the trade union representing staff at Ireland’s largest retailer Dunnes Stores, has written to the company seeking clarification of rumours that it may be taken over by Asda.
Mandate said there has been persistent speculation about a possible takeover bid by Asda, although neither company has commented on the rumours, and that Dunnes staff “deserve to know where they stand”.
Dunnes Stores has 153 outlets and employs approximately 18,000 people.
